BOISE -- Rascal Flatts has announced the cancellation of three shows including Thursday's concert at the Ford Idaho Center Amphitheater.

"We regret to inform you that due to an unforeseen illness with [lead singer] Gary, the following shows scheduled for this week have been cancelled."

The shows included in the cancellation include the show at the Idaho Center Amphitheater, the August 8 concert at Northern Quest Casino and Resort in Airway Heights, WA, and the August 9 show at Rocking' River Music Festival in Mission, BC, Canada.

On the cancellations, Jay DeMarcus, the bass guitarist, keyboardist and backing vocalist said, "It is incredibly difficult to make the decision to cancel shows and disappoint our loyal fans who have been so good to us over the years. The schedule of shows this past weekend, coupled with media days in New York City, have left him without a voice. We promise to return as soon as we can and give our fans the best show possible!"

Ticket holders should contact the venue for refund information.
