BOISE -- The quick action of firefighters kept two Boise homes from being destroyed Saturday morning.

Around 5:15 a.m., Ada County dispatch got a call of a home on fire on Kirkwood Street, off Overland Road.

When firefighters got to the scene they immediately called for more help as the fire was burning between the garages of two homes.

Battalion Chief Jim Gross say the fire wasn't their only worry.

"Got a report of a victim, possibly inside, so the companies went into rescue mode," said Gross. "That person was later found in the backyard. He was attempting to extinguish the fire with a garden hose. So he's okay, everybody's okay, the fire's out."

Firefighters were able to keep the flames to the garages, leaving the homes untouched.

Investigators are looking into the cause of the fire.
