BOISE-- The Idaho Steelheads have found a new head coach. They announced the new coach before the Boise Hawks at Memorial Stadium. Brad Ralph will take over as Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations.
After he was announced to the Boise baseball crowd, Ralph flipped the first pitch to home plate by way of a wrist shot.
Ralph comes to Idaho from the Augusta Riverhawks, where he coached his team to the playoffs each of the two seasons he was in charge. He was also named coach of the year in his first season.
But it's not just those results that made him the man for the Steelheads.
At the end of the day we just thought that what he brought to the table, he was very organized and detailed, he brought a full plan to the table when he sat down and talked to us, Steelhead's President Eric Trapp said. He just really impressed us with the thoroughness he had on his plan of how to take the Steelheads back to where we've been in the past.
This is a storied franchise. I think it's important to make it a reality to our players and to the fans that our goal is a championship, Ralph said. I think it's a first class organization. So, my job is to recruit and hopefully just get back that winning atmosphere and the right attitude.
