EUGENE -- If you are a Boise State fan, the sounds of another National Championship coming home to Boise should grab your attention. As of Thursday afternoon, BSU track and field star Emma Bates took the NCAA Womens Individual National Title in the 10,000 meter race.

As they crossed the half way mark, Bates was in second place and in a comfortable spot. She did not look back from there. She crossed the finish line with a time of 32:32:35, which is the second fastest time in meet history. Bates endurance paid off as she increased her speed progressively on each of her final six laps, and running her last mile in 4:53.

Bates has time to celebrate her National Title tonight, but her weekend is not over. She is scheduled to compete in the 5,000 meter race on Saturday, where she is currently sitting in the number one position heading into the race.
